It looks like there is just one thru bolt and head would come off. Cut shaft and drill new hole. I removed the screw at the top, measured the shaft, cut it with a hacksaw, cut the wires, shortened them, drilled a new hole at the top, reconnected the wires with inline clamps, put it all backtogether and it works fine. Not sure how I would approach your model.

WebJun 1, 2024 · I haven't shortened but put on a longer shaft on a MinnKota motor controlled one. Disconnect all the wires in the head, cut the shaft, without cutting the wires, slip the shaft off the wires, drill another hole where you need it and put it back together. Shouldn't be very hard. Take pictures of the connections in the head before starting.
