It's very important to ensure that you have the cylinder that you are testing at TDCC (Top Dead Center Compression).

This will test the valves and rings. you let air into the cylinder, using a compressor, and then stop. The cylinder should retain about 95% of the air, youre gonna have to do the math. For example, if you put in 100psi, it should go to 95 or so. WebbRepeat the test for each cylinder of the engine. To use a leak-down tester, you remove the spark plugs as above and rotate the engine until the piston is at top dead center for the cylinder you are testing. Insert the leak-down tester hose into the spark plug hole, then connect it to a compressed air source of at least 100 psi.
